Build block layouts from complex fields
MFB Pro extends Meta Field Block for sites that use ACF or Meta Box. It turns supported complex fields into structured blocks in the WordPress Block Editor, so you can build dynamic templates without creating a custom block for each common layout.
Choose a layout for each field
ACF Group and Flexible Content fields can appear as container blocks. Repeater fields support row, stack, grid, carousel, and accordion layouts. ACF Gallery fields can display as grids, masonry galleries, or carousels, while an ACF Image field can use a core Image block. Relationship and Post Object fields can be displayed as a Query Loop.
Corresponding Meta Box fields have similar Pro features. These include Group fields, Cloneable Groups displayed as repeaters, Post fields displayed as Query Loops, and single or multiple images displayed as image blocks or galleries. Group fields can also appear as Details blocks, with a single image subfield used as the group’s background image.
- Display ACF File fields as video, image, button, or link blocks.
- Display ACF Link fields as buttons, and URL fields as image, button, link, video, or embed blocks.
- Display ACF Email fields as buttons or links, oEmbed fields as Embed blocks, and Google Map fields.
- Display taxonomy fields as Terms Query blocks.
- Bind custom fields from ACF, Meta Box, core metadata, and core settings directly to Heading, Paragraph, Button, Image, Video, and Embed blocks, or to the background of a Cover block.
Set up fields in the editor
Add Meta Field Block to a template or post layout, choose a field, then select its presentation. The block can stand alone or sit inside a parent block that provides postId and postType context, such as Query Loop, WooCommerce Product Collection, or Term Query. For the field to display in the Block Editor, it must be available through the REST API or have its field type set to dynamic.
The base plugin supports custom fields for posts, terms, and users, including values that are strings or can be converted to strings. It can also display shortcode output, including in a Query Loop where the correct post ID matters. Developer hook APIs let you customize block output, display complex data types, or use the block as a placeholder with object_id and object_type context parameters.
