Which content can open in a lightbox?
ARI Fancy Lightbox Pro is a WordPress lightbox plugin based on Fancybox. It displays supported content in responsive popups for mobile and desktop devices, without requiring extra HTML changes for supported links and galleries.
It works with native WordPress galleries, Jetpack galleries, NextGEN, FooGallery, Justified Image Grid, and WooCommerce product images. Supported video sources include YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Vine, and Metacafe. Local PDFs can open in a cross-browser PDFJS viewer; Google Maps links, web pages, and inline content can also use the lightbox.
How do deeplinks and sharing work?
Pro can generate a unique deeplink for each lightbox item. Opening that link in a browser can display the corresponding image, video, document, or other supported item directly.
The plugin integrates with the Facebook comment plugin and provides sharing options for Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and VK. Visitors can also send content by email.
What can you configure for videos and screens?
For YouTube, Vimeo, and Dailymotion, Pro adds extended player parameters such as autoplay, related-video settings, and the fullscreen button, along with other available options. You can disable the lightbox on small screens when its popup presentation does not suit that display size.
When can a splash window open?
A shortcode can create a splash window that opens a defined lightbox when a page loads. You can configure it to appear only once. External or internal links with a target="_blank" attribute can also open inside the popup. Justified Image Grid integration adds gallery options for sites using that system.
How do visitors navigate and view content?
On supported devices, visitors can tap, zoom, pan, pinch, and swipe to navigate. The lightbox also supports slideshow mode, loop navigation, fullscreen viewing, and a thumbnails toolbar. Titles can come from EXIF data or file names. Style controls let you adjust the lightbox appearance, and you can disable right-clicking on images to discourage copying their URLs.
Installation and setup
- Install and activate ARI Fancy Lightbox Pro in WordPress.
- Choose the supported gallery items, media links, pages, PDFs, or inline content to display.
- Configure the lightbox style, navigation, slideshow, thumbnails, and screen behavior.
- Add Pro options such as deeplinks, sharing, video parameters, or a shortcode splash window when needed.
- Save the settings and test the popup on the relevant device sizes.
