WPML Multilingual CMS: WooCommerce Translation and Currencies

Pair WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency for WooCommerce with either the WPML Multilingual CMS or WPML Multilingual Agency plan to translate a WooCommerce store and manage international shopping settings. The WooCommerce integration supplies multicurrency tools; the paid WPML plan adds multilingual features.

Translate store content

Translate simple, variable, grouped and external products, along with product categories and attributes. WPML also supports translation of cart, checkout and confirmation pages, customer reviews, emails to customers and administrators, URL slugs and endpoints, and theme or plugin strings.

For AI translation, WPML uses PTC, its Private Translation Cloud. Machine translation is also available through DeepL, Google Translate and Microsoft Translator.

Localize SEO and store URLs

Multilingual SEO features include hreflang tags, localized sitemaps and meta translation. You can translate the product permalink base, product category base, product tag base and product attribute base.

If a theme or plugin provides checkout text through localization files, scan it under WPML → Theme and Plugins Localization. Then manage the resulting strings under WPML → String Translation.

Set currencies for each market

Add currencies and display prices in more than 200 currencies. A currency switcher can appear on product pages or in widgets, as a list or dropdown. Choose whether it shows each currency's name, symbol or code, and adjust its styling with options or custom CSS.

Currencies can be selected by customer location or site language. Set exchange rates manually or connect to a rate source that updates monthly, weekly, daily or hourly. You can also set custom product prices and shipping rates in secondary currencies, and choose different payment methods for each currency.

Manage inventory and extensions

Track inventory across languages in one dashboard. The integration is compatible with popular WooCommerce extensions, including Subscriptions, Product Add-ons, Product Bundles, Bookings, Composite Products, Tab Manager and Table Rate Shipping. Custom functionality can be built with the WooCommerce REST API.

Install and configure

Install and activate WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency for WooCommerce, then pair it with either the WPML Multilingual CMS or WPML Multilingual Agency plan. If using WPML for multilingual features, follow its setup wizard to configure languages, choose which attributes to translate, translate store pages and enable multi-currency mode. Set currencies, exchange rates and the switcher, then translate the required products, pages, URLs, emails and other content. Make sure the theme uses API calls to retrieve URLs instead of hard-coding them.
