Set up editor toolbars for different roles
WP Edit Pro extends WP Edit with controls for configuring the WordPress content editor. Its drag-and-drop interface lets administrators arrange every row of editor buttons and create different button arrangements for different user roles. The Pro edition also supports network installation and is described as WP Network Ready.
WP Edit's available editor tools include image, media, YouTube video, and clip art insertion; graphical table creation with cell border and background color adjustments; and buttons for subscript, superscript, emoticons, search and replace, an HTML editor, and preview. Visual controls help with common formatting and layout tasks without requiring manual HTML or CSS for each change.
Work with shortcodes and reusable content
WP Edit provides access to shortcodes available in the WordPress environment, including shortcodes for columns and magazine-style layouts. The broader plugin also supports editor access in excerpt areas and profile descriptions, and allows shortcodes in excerpts and widget areas. Its custom buttons API lets plugin and theme developers add editor buttons that users can place in their toolbar arrangements.
WP Edit Pro's Extreme Custom Widget Builder creates custom widgets in a way similar to creating posts or pages. Add these widgets to any widget area or insert them into the content editor to reuse prepared content without recreating it each time.
Configure WP Edit Pro
Use drag-and-drop controls to arrange the editor button rows. Configure role-based arrangements for the user roles that need them, and create custom widgets for placement in widget areas or the content editor.
The WP Edit listing says the plugin has not been tested with the latest three major WordPress releases and may no longer be maintained or supported. Compatibility with recent WordPress versions is uncertain.
