Video sources, streams, and playlists

HTML5 Video Player Pro adds controls for managing video sources, playback, playlists, and presentation in WordPress. Use externally hosted files, including Amazon S3 videos. The player supports HLS streams using .m3u8 files, while Pro also adds DASH playback with .mpd files and a quality switcher for available levels. Multiple subtitle tracks let viewers choose a language.

For video collections, Pro adds three playlist layouts: List With Thumb, List on Right Side, and Grid. Advanced playlists can include live search, previous and next arrows, custom thumbnails, and duration badges. A playlist post type and the [video_playlist] shortcode provide ways to organize and publish them.

Playback controls and presentation

Configure which controls appear, including restart, rewind, and fast-forward. Set playback speed, resolution, seek distance, and start time. Pro can start playback when a video enters the viewport, disable pausing, show a thumbnail when paused, or keep the player sticky while visitors scroll.

Chapters and overlays add structure or supplementary content to a video. An end screen can appear after playback, and the popup player opens a video in a modal. A color picker, additional IDs, and CSS classes provide options for matching the player to a site’s design.

Downloads, ads, and access

Choose whether to show the download button and, if enabled, set a custom download URL. A Google VAST tag URL can connect the player to ads. Password protection restricts a video to viewers with a valid password, and watermark support can add branding or copyright information.

The page load optimizer defers player assets and video loading. An advanced shortcode generator is available in the post and page text editor, and players can also be added with the HTML5 Video Player block.

Install and embed a player

1. Install and activate HTML5 Video Player Pro.
2. Open the HTML5 Video Player menu in the WordPress dashboard.
3. Create a player and configure its source, controls, captions, playlist, and display settings.
4. Copy the generated shortcode into a post, page, or widget, or add the HTML5 Video Player block and select your player.
5. Publish the content and review the player at the intended device sizes.
