Find and replace supported WordPress text
Say What Pro changes strings marked for translation in WordPress core, themes, and plugins. Enter the existing string and its replacement, and the plugin applies the change without editing source files. It works only with strings marked for translation.
Find strings from what appears on your site
When you know the wording visitors see but not the original string, String Discovery mode offers autocomplete suggestions to help locate it. Discovery works with server-rendered strings and text rendered by JavaScript.
Set the scope and language of a replacement
- Wildcard replacements: Replace individual words or fragments across the site.
- Text-domain-specific filters: Target specific text domains to improve performance.
- Multilingual replacements: Set different replacement text for each language.
- Import and export: Manage replacement data through the Pro interface.
Use a text-domain filter when a replacement should apply to strings from a particular domain. Wildcards can handle a word or fragment used across multiple supported strings.
Configure and manage replacements
Install and activate Say What Pro, find the translatable string, then enter the replacement text. For a multilingual site, configure the wording for each language. Use the interface to import or export replacement data when needed.
The wider Say What? plugin also has preliminary WP-CLI support. The export and list commands export replacements; import and update use CSV files.
Where replacements can help
Adjust labels, notices, buttons, and other translatable text supplied by WordPress core, a theme, or a plugin. This can help match interface wording to your audience, business terminology, or multilingual site.
