LocoAI Pro adds automatic translation to the Loco Translate editor for translatable strings in WordPress plugins and themes. Translate strings from the editor, then review and edit the results there before applying them.
Providers by edition
The free edition includes Yandex Translate, Chrome built-in AI, and Edge built-in AI. They do not require a provider API key. Browser AI requires a compatible desktop browser, a secure connection, and language packs for the selected language pair.
The paid edition, also referred to as Premium, includes those providers and adds ChatGPT, Gemini, Google Translate, DeepL document translation, OpenAI, and Ollama Cloud. The ChatGPT workflow does not require an API key. Gemini, DeepL, OpenAI, and Ollama Cloud require provider API keys. DeepL document translation includes a limited number of free document translations per day or can be used with DeepL Pro. Available languages depend on the provider.
Translation, context, and review
Use the automatic translation action to process translatable strings, then refine them in Loco Translate's built-in editor. LocoAI translates plugin and theme strings; it does not automatically translate page content.
The paid edition's Translation Context & Tone settings let you add business context, brand tone, and target audience details to guide translations. The addon imposes no character limit, but provider quotas, charges, and other limits may apply. Review translations before making them live, especially when wording is technical or specific to your brand.
