Set image output for RSS email and readers
Featured Images in RSS Premium extends the Featured Images in RSS for Mailchimp & More plugin for content marketers who use WordPress RSS feeds with email campaigns, marketing automation, and feed readers. It also supports WooCommerce product photos in product RSS feeds.
The base plugin lets you choose image placement, including above the text, wrapped to the left or right, or centered above it. You can set padding and choose a standard or theme-specific image size. It also supports Feedly's webfeedsFeaturedVisual class on image HTML. Premium adds custom image sizes and further controls for feed templates and services.
- Media and enclosure tags: Include image tags used by some services and custom email templates.
- Media-tag-only images: Use the media-tag image without adding the regular featured image to the feed content. This can help address duplicate images in advanced templates.
- Custom image sizes: Set the display size used for RSS feed images.
- Body-image fallback: Use the first photo in a post when it has no featured photo.
- Responsive image control: Disable responsive image markup for services that have issues with it, such as Mailchimp Preview.
Filter posts and add content to the feed
Exclude categories that should stay out of the RSS feed, such as Homepage or Featured categories. Add custom text or HTML before or after posts, for example backlinks or advertisements. A publishing delay holds new posts back from appearing in the feed immediately, giving you a buffer to catch typos or accidental publications.
Check the raw feed to locate image display issues
When an image is missing from a campaign or reader, check whether it appears in the raw RSS feed. If it does, review the receiving service's feed setup and image display options. Some services strip alignment or sizing CSS, which may require custom CSS in that service. If an image looks blurry, try a larger image size. If it remains blurry at full size, the original uploaded image may be too small.
